Mage Update [PATCH]

Mages

Arcane Barrage mana cost has been reduced by 8%.
Arcane Blast mana cost has been reduced by 12%.
Counterspell lockout duration reduced to 7 seconds, down from 8.
Fireball mana cost has been reduced by 25%.
Flame Orb now ignores critters.
The mana costs of Arcane Brilliance and Dalaran Brilliance have been reduced by approximately 16%, making them roughly equal to the cost of Mark of the Wild.
Polymorph now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.
Ring of Frost: Radius shrunk to 8 yards, and inner “safe” radius is now 4.7 yards (exactly matching graphic). Dispelling the effect of Ring of Frost will now make the target immune to being refrozen for 3 seconds. If a second Ring of Frost is cast by the same mage while the first is still active (via Cold Snap), the first will now disappear and cease functioning. In addition, Ring of Frost now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.
When a mage uses the Invisibility spell, it will now also cause their pet Water Elemental to become invisible.

Talent Specializations
Arcane
- Slow now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.
Fire
- Firestarter now allows the mage to cast Scorch while moving (regardless of which armor spell is used), and no longer eliminates Molten Armor’s critical strike chance reduction.
- Flashburn (Mastery) benefit per mastery has been increased by 12%.
- Living Bomb mana cost has been reduced by 22%.
Frost
- Deep Freeze damage done has been reduced by 20%.
- Fingers of Frost can no longer be dispelled and now also increases Ice Lance damage by 15%.
- Frost Specialization now only grants 2 base points of mastery (instead of 8), reducing all Frost damage to frozen targets by 15% from previous values. However, Frost Specialization now increases base Frostbolt damage by 15%.
Bug Fixes
- Ring of Frost can now be cast, and works properly, on transports (this includes elevators, trapdoors, etc.).

Last Night...

Last night Frostizzy / Fireizzy / Arcaneizzy teamed up to continue our journey and goal to reach end game (Cataclysm). So we hit the WOTLK dungeons hard, along with some questing during downtime to level up quick.

Back to back dungeons, all quick and fast. Tanks liked us so much that they would stick around until they had to go, and same with the healers. We manage to do several dungeons and rotated tanks and healers, which was great.

The tanks we teamed up with, enjoyed having 3 mages in his group. they would quickly realize, that all he/she needs to do is keep aggro and those mobs will go down quickly. I’m sure we are healers nightmare if we get a tank that can’t hold enough aggro, which for the most part didn’t happen till the very last dungeon. We get a DK blood spec tank………. he would spend at least a couple of seconds to set up and then pull by putting down DnD and then death grip…… one…….. by…………..one……… which i’m sure before he can cast his next spell that mob was dead.

We noticed we have better luck with Pally tanks versus any other tanks. One tank spec we didn’t experiment with was druid, so not sure how well we would do with a druid tank.

then again, if you know how to tank and keep aggro i’m sure it’ll be fine.

After having fun with the dungeon finder, we decided to do some PVP.

out of the pvps we did back to back we only lost one, which is odd because usually alliance losses and sucks at pvp.

I think having 3 mages that go up to a pvp flag and all hit mirror image at the same time is a little intimidating to the horde :-)

In the end we learned one thing from our twin Arcaneizzy. At level 77 you can wear Cataclysm gear which has HUGE amount of stats in it. We tested out this theory by having fireizzy dps on WOTLK gear….. he was average for his level. We then switched out his gear with some Cata gear and BOOYAH his DPS went up drastically. Cata gear is the way to go. Currently Arcaneizzy is level 78 // Fireizzy is level 77 // Frostizzy is level 76. Memo to frostizzy get cata gear.

Overall on recount (DPS) Arcane//Fire specs are great and produce high DPS.

Frost is still a little low, however we haven’t tried putting cata gear on frost to see if it’ll make a difference. Once he dings we shall test this theory and hopefully have 3 massive DPS mages :-)

i’m sure the tanks/healers will like us then. haha

As we now reached WOTLK part of our adventure… we are starting to get closer and closer to the new cataclysm area. we are half way there at the moment.

We noticed that Frost spec is really good for PVP however in PVE its the lowest DPS of all three spec.

1 - Fire

2 - Arcane

3 - Frost

is the order we usually get when running dungeons on recount. As we continue to venture in our journey to reach end game, hopefully the ranks change and Frost wins out of everyone LOL :-)

PVP content is annoying, Alliance always seem to lose and zerg. however it is funny to have all three mages hit Mirror Image at the same time and see the horde just go nuts seeing an ARMY of mages lol :-)

Journey to reach level 80

After a long thanksgiving week/weekend we are level 71.

I read on the patch notes that leveling from 71-80 should be a bit faster since they lowered the experience needed by 20%. I took that as good news since we were both in that bracket, unfortunately we haven’t noticed the difference.

With the new expansion coming out soon. we don’t think we will make our goal of getting to level 80. I was sad at first until I realized that playing the game now is like playing for the very first time (like a viiiirgin …. Oops sorry modonna moment). With all the new race class changes and new quests… I don’t feel a need to rush anymore.

We are going to continue to level and explore the new shattered world. Level our professions and become epic. Plus I doubt raids will become available soon after release, so we still have time.

Stay tune as frostizzy and fireizzy continue their adventure in becoming two level 80 mages.

We spent the last couple of hours exploring the new Azeroth … now back to our adventure of leveling the mages. currently we are 67 and doing some dungeons, need to get to level 68 so that we can do some WOTLK dungeons

So tonight starts my thanksgiving break! no school and virtually no work. Our goal tonight and this week is to get to wrath of the lich king dungeons which is around level 68. So we’ll see how far we get tonight before Frostizzy inevitably falls asleep.

Tonight was pretty cool because, as you can see in previous posts, we got some pretty epic pvp gear. Ever since we got the gear we have been winning battlegrounds! So it’s been fun and we were able to level up to 65. We are so close to getting to 80, but my eyes will not allow me to continue tonight. So for now, farewell and good night.
